Legendary New York progressive thrashers TOXIK are back! Following the recent re-release of their two albums, TOXIK has reunited and is currently rehearsing with the lineup consisting of:

Ciekawy artykuł. Krótki, ale dający informację jak zaawansowany jest
Hezobollah w kwestiach wywiadu elektronicznego (i nie tylko):

Hezbollah był w stanie posługiwać podsłuchiwać łączność izraelską mimo

o ruchach wojsk, stratach i drogach zaopatrzenia.

H. monitorował też telefony komórkowe izraelskich żołnierzy. Używał też

Witam,
Chcę kupić tuner do radia i do telewizji analogowej, ale zastanawiam się, na
jaką jeszcze platformę postawić -DVB-Sczy DVB-T? Która jest bardziej
przyszłościowa i z której będę miał w tej chwili większy pożytek?

Co Wy na temat radyjek, głosniczkow itp?

Tylko tyle , ze mialem okazje ostatnio jeździć nowiutką Astrą kombi z
fabrycznie zamontowanymi głosniczkami i radioodtwarzaczem. Pełny szok
radio Blaupunkta /Opel/ 2xbass w przednich drzwiach, 2x gwizdek w
plastikowych wstawkach bocznych drzwi /tam gdzie sie reguluje lusterka
boczne, widać tylko dziureczki, ale jak słychać/ i 2x
nisko-sredniotonowe w tylnej klapie.
Słyszałem już taką dunamikę nie powiem, ale w Mercedesie, A ten
Blaupunkcik to taki sobie ani regulacji basów, ani autoreversu, no miał
RDS, ale jak zagrał toooooooo.... .
Słyszałem już dużo i Alpine, Pioneera, Panasonica, ale wychodzi na to,
że to najmniej zależy od radia, tu się liczy głosnik i instalacja.

I do czego zmierzam. Wychodzi na to, że nie ma jak dobra instalacja
fabryczna.

Phones may hold illegal radar detectors

Police in Melbourne are expected to carry out tests on some models of
Nokia
mobile telephones to discover whether what appears to be a built-in radar
speed trap detector in the handsets does in fact work.

Speed trap detectors are illegal in Victoria, although they are on public
sale in the US and some European and Scandinavian countries, including,
apparently, Finland, base of the massive Nokia company.

They work by picking up the high-frequency radio transmissions of the
police
speed guns and sounding a warning tone.

Theoretically, a mobile telephone could do much the same thing since it is
essentially a two-way radio transceiver linked to the cellular telephone
system and is built to detect radio transmission. Whether in fact they
work
that way with the radar guns used by Australian police is unknown, but
they
will be put to the test today.

Police say they were previously unaware of the Nokia "feature" and had not
heard of its use.

A police spokesman said yesterday that anyone using such a device in
Victoria would be liable to a heavy fine and would have the device, in
this
case the mobile phone, confiscated. Police had equipment capable of
detecting the use of such devices, he said.

No statement from Nokia was available last night. A spokeswoman for the
company in Sydney said she had heard of the feature but "Nokia does not
have
a statement. They say it does not work."

The feature is the subject of some excited gossip on Internet chat sites
in
Australia.

It appears on only some Nokia phones.

Reasearchers in Great Britain and Sweden have developed GSM-based positioning systems which might turn out to be a reasonable
alternative to GPS. Sweden's Europolitan said ready to introduce new service.

As BBC and Sweden's elektronikstidening report, Cambridge radio astronomer Peter Duffett-Smith and his Cambridge (UK) based company
Cambridge Positioning Systems (CPS) have developed a GSM-based system which enables the user of a mobile device to pinpoint his
position with an accuracy of 50 metres.

As CPS' CEO, Jeff Morris, pointed out to the Swedish newspaper, the company have a model of their system operational and expect a
high level of interest from terminal producers, network opeartors and base station vendors around the world. To establish a
ground-based positioning system, investments for upgrades in the UK are expected to be in the neighbourhood of 1 M GBP.

Similar to GPS, the earth-based so called CURSOR system makes use of interpolating the distance towards different base stations by
measuring the time which a signal uses to travel to each of these stations. As a side effect of this method, CURSOR's precision is
expected to increase with the number of receivable base stations, making its use preferable in densely settled and well covered
locations. Unlike today's technology of time-advance measurement, accroding to the report, the exact positioning of any teminal
device would be calculated at the base-stations.

In concert with other services, CURSOR could be used as a main element in navigational services as well as intelligent SMS-like or
graphically enhanced user information. According to CPS, costs for a "reprogramming" of mobile phones are marginal, though no
specifics were given on compatibility issues, especially backward compatibility with today's terminal equipment.

In the meantime, Swedish operator Europolitan still works with a proprietary system which holds the disadvantage of a lower degree
of precision and low standard performance in scarcely settled areas. Ericsson, who had been partaking in this project alongside
CelsiusTech and SendIT have since also taken a closer look at the British development, while Europolitan apparently wish to
introduce their product to the market in summer of this year. According to Europolitan, their system allows for customer privacy -
it can be disabled temporarily. Other European operators, such as Germany's T-Mobil and Mannesmann plan to go public with their
own traffic telematics projects later this year.

Robert zaczął prace nad remixem utworu Erick Morillo - Waiting in the darkness, zaakceptowane zostało pierwsze, demo, lecz niestety osobiste sprawy zmusiły Roberta do wyjazdu z kraju. Wyjechał do Coventry gdzie spędził prawie 2 lata. Będąc w Wielkiej Brytanii miał niewiele czasu na muzykę, ale główny cel, którym było zarobienie pieniędzy na sprzęt do domowego studia, został osiągnięty. Po powrocie do kraju zaczął prace nad kilkoma remixami znanych utworów, rnb. Duży rozgłos przyniosły mu remixy, szczególnie Timbaland - Give it to me (Roberto Bedross rmx) i Nelly Furtado - Say it right (Roberto Bedross rmx) oraz 50 centa feat. Justin Timberlake - Ayo technology (Roberto Bedross rmx). Grane były w klubach na całym świecie m.in. w Holandii, USA, Wielkiej Brytanii, Austrii, Norwegii, Finlandii, Francji, Indiach… Grały go także stacje radiowe. m.in. radio GRA, RMF MAXXX, Radiostacja, francuskie Paris one DJ web Radio, a także wielokrotnie pojawiały się w audycjach Eska Live Remix. Dzięki tym remixom Robert zaczął pojawiać się w polskich klubach.

Po remixach przyszedł czas na autorskie, nieco mniej "komercyjne" projekty w stylu progressive, electro house. W maju 2007 roku Love Dealers wydało jego pierwszą epkę "Exptectancy". Potem współpraca z innym polskim labelem Exotic Refreshment oraz Mindbreak Music aż w końcu jego przyjaciel założył na początku 2008 roku własną wytwórnię Sensitive Square Records. Od tej pory Robert wydaje produkcje głównie pod szyldem tego labelu.

W tym czasie zaczęło pojawiać się coraz więcej propozycji na remixy. Jedna z nich była ofertą od Paul'a James'a z Londynu, który zlecił Robertowi zrobienie remixu do utworu "Mercy", do którego wokale nagrał Chris Jones znany m.in ze współpracy z Armin’em van Buuren’em.

An attempt by the Italian's to regain their former glory on the Atlantic was
made with the launch of the fabulously sleek Andrea Doria in 1951. Following
the loss of the Rex and Conte di Savoia during the course of the second World
War, the once proud fleet of Italia had been diminished to a point of
nonexistence. Rising from the ruins of that once proud line, Andrea Doria was a
bold creation that embodied the Italian tradition of style and luxury at
sea.

The beautiful setting of the Ball Room (First Class) on the ANDREA DORIA
provides a gay background for gala evenings. Named for the famed Italian
admiral Andrea Doria, Italia's newest liner was stunning and modern in
everyway. Christened by Giuseppe Saragat, her launch on 16 June 1951 marked
Italia's reentry into the post-war booming Atlantic trade. Entering service in
January 1953, Andrea Doria was one of the most modern vessels on the Atlantic
Route. A veritable floating art gallery, she sported an extraordinary array of
original art work that added to her sophisticated flair and modernity.
Not only was Andrea Doria the fastest, largest, and most luxurious ship in the
Italian fleet, she was also the safest. With eleven water-tight compartments,
bulkheads that extended from the hull to her A-Deck, a double hull, and RADAR
to warn of nearby vessels, the features aboard Andrea Doria ensured that she
would get her passengers to port not only comfortably, but safely as well.
In keeping with Italia's rich tradition of service at sea, Andrea Doria offered
an array of amenities and impecable service to passengers in all classes. She
was a phenomenal success for Italia after entering passenger service in '53,
and along with her newer sistership, the slightly more subdued Chistoforo
Colombo, Andrea Doria carved out a niche in the Atlantic market that attracted
an ever larger number of passengers. Those who sailed aboard Andrea Doria
reveled in her ultra-modern accomodations and superb service. Plying the mild
Sunny Southern Route, her extensive lido areas and fantastic service made for a
gala time at sea. For three years she would triumphantly reign the seas,
earning the proud monicker "Grand Dame of the Sea." Three open-air swiming
pools, one for each class, are naturally, centers of all outdoor activity. Each
has a surrounding Lido Deck and an adjoining Veranda CafĂŠ.

And:
The collision and the ensuing sinking of the Andrea Doria was one of the major
news stories of 1956. It competed with the Suez Canal crises, the re-election
of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, the Hungarian Freedom Fighters and a host of
other headlines of the day.
The incident, of course, touched the lives of those that lived and died in it,
as well as their families and friends. Regulations were changed and travel on
the high seas became safer. The Golden Age of the great ocean liners was
drawing to a close as air travel became the preferred means of travel to and
from Europe.

Others were touched by the incident in ways not so dramatic - but profound in
their own ways. One of these was an eleven year old boy in New York who sat by
the radio listening to the reports as they came in. This same young boy watched
the crude images on the television sets of the day and used his allowance to
buy every newspaper and magazine that carried a story or picture of the event.

The stories of the heroic rescues and Gallant Ships thrilled him then as they
still do now. Largely as a result of this incident, he would enlist in the U.
S. Coast Guard some seven and a half years later and would participate in
other, less dramatic, but equally rewarding rescues, rising to the rank of
Chief Petty Officer. While serving in the Coast Guard, he would be trained in
the new, emerging technology of digital computers which would become the basis
of his career in civilian life.

Ad vocem Droga Magdo; w 1993 wróciłem do kraju po studiach w USA, a po roku na
ILS z niego zrezygnowałem (byłem juz wtedy tłumaczem w Kancelarii Prezydenta
RP), a w rok później zacząłęm prowadzić serwis ekonomiczny w redakcji
angielskiej Polskiego Radia. Lista jest długa. Winszuję skończenia ILS-u, ja
nie miałem tyle odporności psychicznej by brnąć przez jałowe dyskusje z psycho-
meta- i innych lingwistyk w oparciu o podręczniki i teorie z lat 50-tych (słuzę
przykładem - Prof. Noam Chomsky jest obecnie wykładowcą Massachussets Institute
of Technology, z lingwistyką ma niewiele wspólnego, a swoje rozprawy z
młodzieńczych lat wyrzucil, do kosza i jest lekko zazenowany gdy ktoś mu o tym
przypomina). A wyładowcy w stylu P.Duszak czy postękujący P.Konik skutecznie
zniechęcali do studiów. Tym bardziej cieszę się, ze pracujesz w zawodzie
(unlike the vast majority of ILS degree holders)i to z tłumaczem tej klasy co
A.Zapałowski, od Niego nauczysz się więcej niz całego ILS (wyjątek czynię dla
prof. Kopczyńskiego, innych 'accomplished interpreters' nie dane mi było
spotkać, bo teoretyków tego zawodu, wybacz, mało powazam). Twoje opinie
(czytałem z uwagą) są pięknym przykładem liryki zaangazowanej ... po jednej ze
stron. Ja nie jestem Twoim pracodawcą i to nas rózni. To niewymowna radość -
nie zalezeć od róznych Panów Buczyńskich. I jeszcze raz - nie przytykam, to

swoją i cudzą. Mam czelność zabierać głos, bo osoby dla których tłumaczyłem
zawsze wracały, ostatnio takze George Weigel, biograf Ojca Świętego, teolog i
erudyta (prawdziwe wyzwanie dla tłumaczy). I właśnie z tych wszystkich
powodów taka bufonada w wydaniu Pana B. - alas - skłoniła mnie do tego
wszystkiego.

PS. Ad Vocem - Pan Ambroziewicz oczywiście ma na imię Bogdan. Moje faux pas, za
co Go serdecznie przepraszam,iz z rozpędu (podyktowanego emocją) wpisałem inną
literę imienia. To świetny tłumacz i wyrozumiały kolega, myslę, ze się nie
obraził.
